open heart Celebrating a golden wedding anniversary (2): Timanfaya

Lanzarote Island is covered by a blanket of lava, especially due to the volcanic activity of the eighteenth century. As the story goes, the parish priest of Yaiza was witness these eruptions, leaving written evidence of such a terrifying moment:
The first day of September 1730, between nine and ten night, the earth suddenly opened near Timanfaya, two leagues of Yaiza. On the first night a huge mountain rises from the bosom of the earth and the apex escaped burning flames that continued for nineteen days . (Link to full text )

This eruption resulted in what is now the Timanfaya National Park, also known as the Mountain of Fire , one of Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism Cabildo de Lanzarote.

appearance as you go by road and will give clues as to what you'll find ...

By car only accessible to the car park where you take a bus and made the tour of the areas suitable for circulation.

Obviously, walking is impossible to see anything except the parking area and restaurant ( work, by the way, César Manrique , like many others that I will be teaching ). The road is quite narrow (only has room for a bus and a miracle), and during the trip is a recording describing the history and characteristics of the park.

The visit is quite spectacular, so I leave the photos directory, I do not need comments ....

The tour ends where it begins, in the parking

where you can experience firsthand what it's like in a volcanic area, such as temperature of the stones from the ground (impossible to keep on hand, really), the ability to cook the chicken through the heat from the earth,

how fast you burn the straw in soil holes

or height geysers reaching ...

Completely spectacular see what can be devastating both nature and the beauty that could create ....

Once we emerge from this area went for the typical camel ride (which are actually dromedaries)

and we see how fast they catch the animals love people .....

For today I think the sightseeing was not bad .... We parted as a couple on the back of Romeo ^ __ ^
